Reagan Wilson, Director

Reagan Wilson is a Director at Best Wilson Family Law in Toowoomba and has practised exclusively in the complex and challenging area of family law since 1999. He has developed a reputation for providing the best advice for his clients, achieving successful outcomes and fulfilling his commitment to total client care.
Reagan has extensive experience in all aspects of family law. He has a particular interest in cases involving the relocation of children and complex property settlement matters including large rural matters. Reagan’s reputation has seen him referred to as “the lawyer that lawyers use” and he represents clients in not only Queensland but throughout Australia and also overseas.
Reagan works closely with a network of barristers, accountants, financial planners, counsellors and psychologists to ensure that his clients achieve the best outcomes possible and are able to move forward in their lives with security and peace of mind. He understands that there is more to helping clients with their separation or divorce than the cold legal facts. Going through this process with Reagan means knowing your legal, financial and emotional issues will all be considered.
Reagan has served as a member of the Family Law Practitioners Association Executive Board from 2004 and is the current representative for Queensland Regional Family Law Practitioners. He is the current Darling Downs representative for the Family Court’s Case Management Meeting and is the Vice President of the Toowoomba Children’s Contact Centre having served on the committee since 2002.
Kara Best, Director

Kara Best is a Director at Best Wilson Family Law in Toowoomba who has practiced exclusively in family law following her Admission to Practice in 2001. She is a Queensland Law Society Accredited Family Law Specialist, and has acted in a wide range of family law matters including complex property proceedings involving third parties, international interests, significant farming and industrial endeavours and complex parenting proceedings.
Kara is a member of the panel of Independent Children’s Lawyers in Queensland and is routinely appointed to represent the interests of children in parenting proceedings in the Family Court and Federal Magistrates Court.
Kara’s level of expertise and ability is reflected by her appointment in 2006 as the Senior Legal Associate to the Chief Justice of the Family Court in Melbourne. This followed a period in private practice in Brisbane and an earlier period in which she was Associate to the Honourable Justice Michelle May of the Family Court and the broader Trial Division of the Brisbane Registry of the Family Court of Australia. She is intimately aware of how the law works in operation, and how best to achieve the most optimal outcome from the family law system.
Kara has a history of consistently achieving positive outcomes for her clients both at trial, but more regularly by agreement without litigation. Clients routinely benefit from her extensive knowledge of family law, her direct but warm manner and her intimate knowledge of the court, the law and how both operate in reality.
Kara’s varied experience and her familiarity with the most complex aspects of family law permit her to provide clients with the highest quality legal advice in the most professional, efficient manner. She is passionate about the resolution of conflict at the earliest opportunity on the most mutually beneficial terms. From Kara’s perspective this maximizes the outcome for both parties and their children should same be involved, an outcome which should, in her view, be the goal of all practitioners in this area.
Kara’s desire to promote greater resolution has lead to her develop the Neutral Evaluation Project. This project is an initiative of Best Wilson Family Law and is focused upon assisting a separated couple to jointly gather information, advice and documentation necessary to then seek an unbiased and fair evaluation of how the family law operates in relation to their unique factual situation from one experienced lawyer. Thereafter, Kara is at liberty to assist parties to formalise any agreement they reach without delay. The power is handed back to a separated couple under this model of resolution, you control the process, you both benefit from the same advice, and you both determine how you’ll move forward financially. Under this exciting process, legal costs are not duplicated, and conflict is minimized.
Kara has extensive legal qualifications including a Bachelor of Arts (Justice Studies, QUT), Bachelor of Laws (QUT), Bar Practice Course (QUT) and is currently undertaking a Masters in Law at the University of Queensland – majoring in litigation. She has studied mediation at post-graduate level and is the Family Law Representative to the Darling Downs & South West Queensland Law Association. Kara regularly volunteers with the Homeless Persons Legal Clinic, and the Toowoomba Advocacy and Support Centre Legal Advice Clinic.
